The APS Controller
The APS Controller houses a high-precision infrared gas analyser (IRGA) for CO2 measurement and integrated humidity sensors for precise H2O vapour measurement.
Each sample channel is controlled by its dedicated pump, ensuring accurate and stable airflow.
The controller’s intuitive, user-friendly interface allows researchers to easily configure, monitor, and review measurement parameters and data.
Data is securely stored on an SD card or transmitted to a connected PC through USB or RS232 connections.

The APS Chamber
Reduce Microclimate Effects: Long experiments with widely used handheld gas exchange systems require closing the chamber’s jaws onto the leaf throughout the process. This increases temperature and humidity within the chamber and affects the photosynthesis and transpiration rates of the leaf section under study. The results therefore, will not be representative of the rest of the plant.
The APS Chamber jaws close onto the leaf at programmed intervals for gas sampling and open between readings:
The APS Chamber’s two automated hinged jaws gently clamp onto a leaf section, creating a sealed environment for precise CO2 and H2O measurements.
The upper jaw incorporates an air temperature sensor and transparent polycarbonate window.
The lower jaw features an infrared leaf temperature sensor.
PAR sensor is positioned adjacent to the leaf guide.
A circulation fan ensures consistent airflow between jaws, enhancing measurement reliability.
• Climate-controlled gas exchange:
Equipped with high-precision CO₂ and H₂O analyzers. The measuring range of the CO₂ analyzer is 0~3100µmol·mol⁻¹, and the H₂O analyzer is 0~75mmol·mol⁻¹. It can precisely regulate the leaf chamber flow rate at 0~1400µmol·s⁻¹. The leaf chamber pressure control range is 0~0.1 kPa with a control resolution of 1.0 Pa. The pressure sensor has a measurement range of -2~2 kPa and a resolution of 1.0 Pa. It also supports precise regulation of leaf chamber humidity from 0 to 90%RH and CO₂ concentration from 0 to 2000µmol·mol⁻¹, providing stable and consistent experimental conditions for reliable gas exchange analysis.
• Advanced chlorophyll fluorescence:
Adopting the pulse-modulated fluorescence technology of Opti-Sciences to measure quantum yield, electron transport rate and various quenching parameters. The instrument modulation frequency covers 1Hz~250kHz, the saturation flash output ranges from 0 to 16000µmol·m⁻²s⁻¹, and the far-red light output ranges from 0 to 20µmol·m1⁻²s⁻¹, which greatly improves the accuracy and application range of fluorescence detection.
• Pre-installed experimental protocols:
Automate key procedures including Laisk, Kok, Yin and Flexas protocols, simplifying complex experiments and ensuring repeatable accuracy.
• White optical LED light source:
Delivers consistent and stable spectral output with light intensity control ranging from 0 to 3000µmol·m⁻²s⁻¹, which is essential for accurate chloroplast migration and non-photochemical quenching measurement.
• Comprehensive leaf absorptance measurement:
An RGB sensor is used to accurately measure leaf absorptance, ensuring the accuracy of fluorescence and gas exchange measurements.
• Walk-in automatic operation:
Supports full automation of extended protocols, allowing researchers to start experiments and retrieve results later without manual intervention.
• Multi-flash frequency correction:
Integrates the advanced Loriaux (2013) correction method to ensure high precision of fluorescence measurement under high-intensity light conditions.
• User-friendly interface:
Equipped with a color touch screen and intuitive menu navigation, simplifying setup, operation and data review.
• Powerful data storage and connectivity:
The device is configured with ≥2GB RAM and 8GB flash memory. It can store large datasets internally and via removable SD cards, and supports convenient USB data transmission and configuration.
